Mary Nelle Clem said the Hobbs team wanted to say “thanks” to a community that has shown them “how lucky they are to have the best customers, community, family and friends around.”
Steve and Rodney Hobbs founded Hobbs Jewelers in 1984 in Ardmore. The business opened its second store in 1989 in Athens. During that time, their father and sister, Ed Hobbs and Teresa Russell, joined the business.
In 1999, the decision was made to combine the two stores at a single Athens location.
In 2002, the Hobbs family moved the business to its current Athens location at 571 U.S. 72 West.
The jewelers have since expanded to include Huntsville and Decatur.
