Prep roundup: Ardmore’s Reed fans 10 in 4 innings to win 6th victory

Cody Reed struck out 10 batters in four innings to help Ardmore beat Russellville 3-2 Saturday at Priceville High School.

Reed (6-1) gave up no hits, one walk and no runs and hit a two-run homer. The senior’s first -inning shot over left field gave Ardmore an early 2-0 lead.

Kenneth Embrey and Donny Rogers were both 2 for 4 for Ardmore (18-7).

Ardmore lost 9-4 to Priceville Saturday morning. Carson Pack went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Tyler Thomas struck out four and allowed four earned runs in a complete game win over ABS Saturday. Jordan Nelson led Elkmont at the plate with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Jared Bailey was 2 for 5 with three RBIs while Josh Carter went 2 for 4 with three runs scored.

Tyler Hudson was 2 for 4 with two runs scored for ABS

Athens Bible 7, Catholic 4

Ethan Thomas pitched three scoreless innings in relief as ABS held off Pope John Paul II Catholic-Huntsville for a 7-4 win Saturday. Thomas also added two RBIs while Jeb Hagewood went 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Decatur 13, Athens 5

Andre Holt went 3 for 3 including a 2-run double, but it was not enough as Athens fell to Decatur 13-5 Saturday. Michael Elkins went 2 for 4 and scored a run in the loss.

Athens will travels to No. 2 Cullman Friday in the first round of the state playoffs.
