Opening day

Saturday, April 5, is opening day for Athens youth softball and baseball. Opening day ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. at the north pod of the Athens Sportsplex for softball while baseball has a 10 a.m. opening day ceremony at the south pod.

Youth volleyball

Registration is open for youth volleyball at the Athens Park and Recreation Center until April 30. Leagues are offered for students in grades 3-8. The fee is $35. More information: 256-233-8740.

Youth tennis

Registration is open for youth tennis clinics at the Athens Park and Recreation Center for ages 5-12. Clinic dates will be May 8, 15, 22, 29 and June 5 and 12. Fee is $40. More information: 256-233-8740.
