ABS, Ardmore top ranked Limestone teams

Ardmore continues to climb in the Alabama Sports Writers Association baseball poll thanks to its eight-game winning streak. The Tigers are ranked No. 5 in Class 4A in the latest poll, released Thursday.

Ardmore (13-7) host Athens for a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon. The Tigers played a doubleheader with Elkmont Thursday, although the results were not available at press time.

Two teams Ardmore faced in its playoff run last season — Brooks (24-7) and Alexandria (18-9) are ranked No. 4 and No. 6 respectively.

Despite a sweep by Ardmore over spring break, Lauderdale County (23-10) moved up to No. 3 in Class 3A.

Carrying a 12-game winning streak, Athens Bible (17-4) enters the 1A poll for the first time this season at No. 3.  The Trojans travel to No. 2 Shoals Christian (21-6) Monday and return home Tuesday to finish the series.

Athens (20-10) remained in the 5A softball poll at No. 10 this week. AHS will play in a tournament at Bob Jones beginning tonight.

Ardmore (19-5-1) remained No. 7 in 4A while Athens Bible (19-8) is No. 6 in 1A.
