Carter, Potts, Houston make first-team All-State

West Limestone’s Kayla Carter, Athens’ Nathanial “Giddy” Potts and Tanner’s Sydney Houston earned first-team All-State basketball selections, according to an announcement made today by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
Houston, a senior guard, was a repeat selection on the Class 2A girls team, while Potts, a senior guard and Middle Tennessee State signee, received first-team honors in 5A after consecutive second-team honors.
West Limestone junior forward Kayla Carter was the other Limestone player selected to the first team in 4A.
Junior forward Trey Potts, Giddy’s younger brother, grabbed a spot on the 5A second-team, while East Limestone senior guard Jordon Gandy, a Murray State signee in football and a preferred walk-on in basketball, received an honorable mention selection in 5A.
Tanner junior shooting guard JonJon Fletcher was a second-team selection in 2A. Fletcher’s buzzer-beater in the Northwest Regional final sent Tanner to the Final 48 for the second consecutive season.
East Limestone senior guard Brennan Crabtree, the school’s all-time leading scorer in girls basketball, and Tanner freshman forward Kirstin Brown picked up the two other honorable mention selections for Limestone County.
