A Belle Mina man and convicted sex offender remained jailed Thursday in Limestone County for allegedly living at an unauthorized address and violating terms of probation on a previous charge of third-degree burglary, an official said.
Cassius Clay Brown, 44, of 25060 Narrow Lane, was arrested on a charge of violating the state convicted sex-offender act and on the probation violation, records show.
Bail is set at $5,000 on the sex-offender act violation but he cannot be bailed out at this time due to the probation violation.
Brown was convicted of first-degree rape involving a female adult in Limestone County in October 1990, records show. He was released from prison in February 2009.
In accordance with state law, Brown registered as a convicted sex offender in December 2013, at which time his address was verified as 7655 Fennel Road in the Tanner community, records show.
Under the state sex-offender act, Brown was to remain at that address unless he received permission from authorities to live elsewhere.
