Limestone County Sheriff’s investigators say a Tanner woman found dead at the edge of a field off Stewart Road Saturday died of unknown causes.
Sheriff Mike Blakely said, at the present time, there is no reason to suspect foul play in the death of Sonya Todd, 59, of Stewart Road.
Todd’s red pickup was found a few feet away from her body at about mid-morning Saturday.
“Right now, it appears Mrs. Todd died of natural causes,” said Blakely. “Unless an autopsy finds something, we are investigating this as an unattended death.”
Todd had pulled her vehicle into a tree-lined concrete driveway that had once lead to a home that was leveled in the April 27, 2011, EF5 tornado that swept through Limestone County, killing four people.
The driveway is about a mile from her home. Why she left her vehicle is unknown.
The body lay about 100 feet off Stewart Road, about a quarter-mile south of the intersection with Rosie Road.
“Her purse was found in her truck and nothing, including money, appeared to be missing,” said Blakely.
