Garbage needs to be placed out the night before pickup because routes are being run earlier, CCS said. Crews will not be able to go back if the garbage is not out on the correct day.
Athens Sanitation Director Earl Glaze said city residents could put Christmas wrapping paper in their recycling bins except for foil wrapping paper.
“Do not put foil wrapping paper in the recycling bins,” he said.
Recycling and garbage bins should be on the curb by 6 a.m. to ensure pickup, Glaze said.
Also, he said, glass should not be placed in the recycling bins; glass can be taken to the Athens-Limestone Recycling Center on Lucas Ferry Road south of U.S. 72.
There have been incidents of glass being added to recycling bins, recently, he said.
