Six people were arrested this week on charges related to the manufacturing of methamphetamine, according to officials with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, deputies arrested 52-year-old Carlton O’Neal Gatlin Sr. of 22735 Concord Road in Toney on charges of first-degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance with an intent to distribute.

The sheriff’s office had received complaints about the residence, according to Capt. Stanley McNatt. During a subsequent search of the home, deputies found 12 used meth labs and approximately 9.5 grams of meth.

Gatlin’s bond was set at $60,000. He was still in the Limestone County Jail as of Friday afternoon.

On Thursday, the sheriff’s office received another complaint about meth being manufactured at a residence. McNatt said Lt. Rhett McNatt made contact with individuals living at 19146 Airfield St. in Athens and noticed a strong odor of meth at the residence.

After receiving permission to search the home, deputies found two active meth labs and drug paraphernalia. Five people were arrested on charges of first-degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Those arrested were 42-year-old James Carl Carter Jr., 25-year-old Jamey Lee Carter, 26-year-old Johnathan Adam Mayfield, all of 19146 Airfield St.; 19-year-old Valarie Leanne Gullett of 1201 N. Houston St., Athens; and 26-year-old Chadrick Michael Piper of 422 Bollweevil Lane, Toney.

Bond amounts for the five were set at $56,000.
