A Huntsville man is facing charges of sodomy and sexual abuse of a 4-year-old girl following indictment by a Limestone County grand jury.

Meikahl Jerry Adams, 28, of 25517 Mahalo Circle, was arrested Monday by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department on a warrant for charges of first-degree sodomy, sexual abuse of a child and carrying a pistol without a permit, records show. The grand jury recently handed down the indictment.

The case was presented to the grand jury in May from a warrant issued in March 2013, District Attorney Brian Jones said Tuesday.

“Adams is accused of sexually abusing a female child who was 4 at the time,” Jones said.

The case was a joint investigation by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department and the Limestone County Children’s Advocacy Center, Jones said.

Adams was released Monday from the Limestone County Jail after posting a $47,000 bail, records show.
