TROY, Ala. (AP) — Troy has hired Wayne Bolt for his second stint as defensive coordinator.
Coach Larry Blakeney announced the hiring of the 35-year coaching veteran on Wednesday. Bolt has coached at Auburn, Clemson, Iowa State and UAB.
Blakeney says Bolt was his first hire when he took over at Troy “and he is a darn good football coach.”
Bolt was Gene Chizik’s director of football relations at Auburn, where he spent three seasons. He wasn’t retained after Chizik’s firing.
Bolt replaces Jeremy Rowell, who has been offered a football operations job with Troy.
Bolt was on Blakeney’s staff from 1991 to 2002, when the Trojans’ defense ranked fourth nationally in total yards allowed.
He coached linebackers under Chizik at Iowa State.
