Elkmont High School alumni gathered Sunday for the 100-year celebration at the school.
Many alumni spent the day reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. Each shared fond memories as residents of Elkmont and students at Elkmont High School.
The oldest alumni in attendance graduated in the Class of 1939. Others traveled as far as 400 miles to attend the event.
John Carter served as the master of ceremonies. Kenneth Davis led the prayer and the Elkmont Cub Scouts Pack 248 led the Pledge of Allegiance. Other speakers at the event included EHS principal Stan Davis, Elkmont Mayor Tracy Compton, Limestone County Superintendent Thomas Sisk and State Rep. Dan Williams, R-Athens.
Present and retired teachers and class members were recognized. After the program, alumni and students were allowed to roam the halls and reflect on their years at EHS. Classrooms were set aside for different classes to reminisce.
