Wedding: Garrett-Whitt

Lauren Brittany Garrett and Stewart Daniel Whitt were married in 6 p.m. candlelight ceremony March 10 at Wightman Chapel in Nashville, Tenn., with the Rev. Stephen Bunn officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James DeWitt Garrett III of Athens.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Travis Franklin Raney of Athens, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James DeWitt Garrett Jr.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ray Whitt of Athens. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Nelson Whitt of Athens and Mr. Bill Whitehead of Knoxville, Tenn., and the late Norma Whitehead.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.  Bridesmaids were Jennifer Busby Baldone and Amanda Michelle Shepherd, both of Birmingham; Ashley Marie Shepherd of Huntsville; Elizabeth Hendrix Lusk of Hartselle; Lindsay Colley Sellers of Nashville; Maggee Rebekkah Oliver of Charleston, S.C.; Breanna Dawn Furline of Athens; and Sable Ann Sims of Spanish Fort. The flower girl was Anna Catherine Baldone of Birmingham.

Groomsmen were Norman Ray Whitt, father of the groom; Blair Nelson Whitt of Harvest; Craig Sanderson Whitt of Athens; Joseph Robert Nathaniel Sykora and Richard Benjamin Moody, both of Birmingham; Kyle Edward Patterson of Nashville; Spencer Matthew Swan of Atlanta; and Matthew Wilson Hughes of Gulfport, Miss.; The junior usher was Christopher Alexander Black of Birmingham. 

Music was provided by organist James Weinberg and the Stratford Quartet provided strings and trumpet ensemble. Maggee Rebekkah Oliver was soloist.

A reception followed the ceremony at “aVenue” in Nashville.  The groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory. 

After a wedding trip to France, the couple returned home to Athens.
