Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Shelton Jr. of Danville announce the engagement of their daughter, Christina Louisa Shelton to William Kirk Shannon, son of Dr. and Mrs. Wendell Shannon of Athens.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Baker of Danville and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Shelton of Decatur and the late Mary Jo Shelton. 

She is a 2008 graduate of Hartselle High School and is currently attending the University of North Alabama where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She plans to graduate this year.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William J. Long and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel P. Shannon.

He is a 2007 graduate of Athens High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of North Alabama where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and computer information systems.

He is employed by U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command as a logistics management specialist.

The wedding is planned for July 7 at East Highland Baptist Church in Hartselle.
