BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Riley Northway scored 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting to lead Brewer to a 65-43 victory over Valley in Saturday’s Class 5A girls championship game at the BJCC Arena.
Courtney Oldacre added 15 points and Rheagan Harvel scored 14 for Brewer (32-3).
Audrianna Walker led Valley (26-3) with 14 points. Cadeisia Avery had eight.
Brewer made 24 of 47 field goals (51.1 percent) and was even hotter in the first half. Brewer made 5 of 8 3-pointers and shot 56 percent (14 of 25) before halftime for a 37-27 lead.
Oldacre and Northway both hit 3-pointers during a 13-2 run in the second quarter that pushed the lead to double digits, and Brewer didn’t let down.
Brewer made its first state tournament in 2009 and fell to Fairfield in last year’s championship game, advancing this time by handing Faith Academy its first loss of the season in the semifinals.
