Donald Steven Fanning, 32, of 26922 Winterberry Drive in Harvest, turned himself in to local authorities Wednesday on charges of second-degree domestic violence and strangulation. His bail has been set at $30,000.

Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said Fanning has been terminated from the department.

“He had not turned in his uniform, but he has been notified (of his termination),” she said.

Franklin said Fanning was hired as a jailer in 2006 and was promoted to deputy in 2009.
