The funeral for Richard Hollis Faulk, 85, of Toney will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Douglas Eubanks officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today, Jan. 19, at the funeral home.
Mr. Faulk passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at home.
Richard Faulk was born Thursday, Feb. 11, 1926, in Athens. He was the son of the late Roy Freeman Faulk and Lota Nell Carter Faulk. He was a member of Wooley Springs Church of Christ.
Mr. Faulk was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He served on the Athens Police Department, retiring as chief of police. Mr. Faulk loved cattle farming, hunting, and training his bird dogs. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Almon Faulk, David Faulk, Cecil Faulk, George Faulk and Bobby Joe Faulk; infant sister, Sarah Faulk; and a daughter, Bettie Bligh Canten.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian McGuire Faulk of Toney; sons, Richard Hollis Faulk II of Athens and Cecil Allen Faulk of Toney; daughters, Doris Jean Meadows of Toney; brothers, Waylon Faulk of Marion, Ind., Wes Faulk and Charles Faulk, both of Ardmore, and Donnie Faulk of Pulaski, Tenn.; sisters, Evelyn Lykins of Marion, Ind., and Linda (Judy) Meadows of Athens; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Meadows, Rob Canten, Stacy Meadows, Jesse Meadows, Austin Sandwell and Wayne Faulk. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow officers.
