Wedding: Scott-Byrd

Dr. Heather Dawn Scott and Dr. James Kenneth Byrd, both in residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C., were married in a 6 p.m. ceremony Oct. 15, 2011, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Charleston with the Rev. John L. Warren officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Scott of Athens. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gillispie of Charleston, W.Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Byron W. Scott of Calabash, N.C. She is the great-granddaughter of Rose Cavanaugh of Calabash, N.C.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Parker Byrd of Lexington, S.C. He is the grandson of Bess Mckenzie Mendoza of Columbia, S.C., and Elizabeth Yarborough Byrd of Columbia and the late Julio Enrique Mendoza and Hilburn Miller Byrd.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

The matron of honor was Dr. Tracy Chang Burton. Bridal attendants were Julie Marie Byrd, sister of the groom; and Dr. Lacey Godeaux Boyne, Dr. Shaina Rose Eckhouse, Elizabeth Ann Hamilton, and Dr. Allison Nicole Lundy, all friends of the bride. Flower girls were Brenya and Keira Schlutz.

John Douglass Gowan served as best man. Groomsmen were James Parker Byrd, father of the groom; William Alan Scott, brother of the bride; and Dr. Steven Michael Andreoli, Dr. Bennett Boustany Fontenot, Dr. Richard Clark Webb, and Dr. Daniel John Womac, all friends of the groom.

Ring bearer was Adian Schlutz.

Greeters were Lexi Schlutz and Haley Zawitoski.

The reception was held at the Rice Mill House in Charleston.

After a wedding trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, the couple returned home to Charleston.
