DECATUR, Ala. (AP) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has reached a tentative settlement in connection with the cleanup costs of a Finley Island Road waste processor.
EPA records released Friday show the agency will consider public comments on a settlement for reimbursement of past response costs concerning the Biological Processors of Alabama Superfund Site.
The documents say terms of the settlement will be released Tuesday.
In 2009, the EPA discovered 141 drums and 41 totes — almost 10,000 gallons of waste — at the abandoned Biological Processors facility.
The agency estimated that clean-up costs would be at least $2 million.
Chris Odinet of Madison was president of Biological Processors.
