Limestone County board members accepted resignations, hired new employees and tool other personnel action at their regular monthly meeting Tuesday.

They approved the retirement of Brenda Johnson as elementary teacher at Blue Springs Elementary School, and Connie Shelton as social science teacher at West Limestone High School, both effective Jan. 1.

Board members also approved the following personnel changes Tuesday:

• Agreed to hire Brittany Hicks as CNP worker/assistant at East Limestone High School, effective Dec. 7; Anna Marie Baker as business education at Elkmont High School, retroactive Dec. 1 for the remainder of 2011-2012 year only; Catherine Taylor as elementary teacher at Johnson Elementary School, effective Dec. 7 for the remainder of the 2011-2012 school year only; and Danny Harrison, maintenance worker at Maintenance Department, effective Dec. 12.

• Accepted resignations of Amanda Tucker as elementary collaborative teacher at Elkmont High School, effective Dec. 21 and Tara Brinkley, instructional aide/library aide at Owens Elementary School, retroactive to Dec. 2.

• Agreed to transfer Shawn Gates to custodian at Cedar Hill Elementary School, Kelley Lewter to interim principal at Cedar Hill Elementary School, Charles Hood to bus driver at West Limestone High School, and Julie Meals to counselor at Tanner High School.

• Granted leaves of absence to Sylvia Jones, Patricia Atchley, Alicia Dean, Donald Wilson, Nona Adams, Kelli Champion and Kristin Harbin.

• Granted extended leaves of absence to Sherri Nickoles, Rikki Wise, Lindsey Walton, Nina Smith and Janie Smith.

• Agreed to hire the following substitutes: Charles Thompson as English teacher at Ardmore High School, Tonya Barnett as elementary teacher at Cedar Hill Elementary School, Joan Berzett as elementary teacher at Cedar Hill Elementary School, Kristy Dillard as English teacher at Clements High School, Louise Hall Campbell as elementary teacher at Creekside Elementary School, Cherie Kim as elementary teacher at Creekside Elementary School, Daniel Smith as math teacher at East Limestone High School, Sherry Caudill as elementary teacher at Johnson Elementary School, Patricia Hatchett as elementary teacher at Johnson Elementary School and Lynda Cooper as elementary teacher at Piney Chapel Elementary School.

• Approved the following supplemental pay for 2011-2012 school year: Alicia Hood as softball assistant coach at Clements High School, Chrysanthia Jones as girls basketball assistant coach at Clements High School, and Terrance Galloway as football assistant coach at Tanner High School.

• Approved the following volunteers: Wendy Gordon and Andy Jordan as softball coaches at Clements High School, Greg Allred and Bobby Tanner as wrestling coaches at East Limestone High School and Richard Martin Jr. as girls soccer coach at West Limestone High School.

• Approved the following temporary help: Sabrina Estes, Cyndi Harbin, Carol Hardy, Amanda Moss, Jody Brown, Laura Taylor, Tammie Gafford, Robin Blankenship, Alicia Hood, Anissa Greene, Patsy Godsey, Ramona Kephart, Atina English, Terry Clark and Jan Wilbanks for after school Title I tutors at Blue Springs Elementary School; Brooke Norton and Annessa Smith as after school detention teachers at East Limestone High School;

• Approved the termination of non-certified employee Albert Doug Black as CNP maintenance worker at Central Office, effective Dec. 23.
