GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Members of Furman’s women’s basketball team are headed to Alabama this week to help those rebuilding from April’s tornadoes.
Players Teshia Griswold, Brigid Morrissey and Martha Robinson along with three members of Furman’s coaching staff will join a group from Clemson’s FreeWay Church in traveling to Tuscaloosa and help the United Way with clean up and restoration.
The players and assistants will leave Thursday and return Sunday.
Furman head coach Jackie Carson says she’s proud of those jumping in to help.
Tornadoes struck Alabama and other Southern states in late April, killing more than 300 people.
