BREAKING NEWS: Search continues for J-Mart robber

The search continues today for a man who brandished a knife and robbed the J-Mart on U.S. 72 West in Athens Thursday night.

A black man wearing a black shirt walked into the store just before midnight, showed a knife and demanded cash from the register, Lt. Trevor Harris said.

“After stealing a sum of money, the offender left the store and foot,” he said.

Police have a suspect and were searching for him for several hours following the robbery but could not find him, Harris said.

No one was injured.

The robber got away with two packs of Newport cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash, records show.
