Pedestrian killed by oncoming car

An Athens man was killed Saturday night when he allegedly stepped in front of on oncoming car at Hine and Plato Jones streets, according to Trevor Harris with APD. Rosalio Arroyo Estevan, 57, was walking across Hine Street shortly before 7 p.m. when he was struck by a Honda Civic driven by Lamona Taylor, also of Athens.
“Mr. Estevan was pronounced dead at the scene by Limestone County Coroner Mike West,” Harris said. “Speed is not believed to be a factor in the incident and no charges are expected to be filed in this case.
