Lady Colts get tourney title trophy

The Clements High girls basketball team ended the first half of the season on a bright note Thursday night.

The Class 3A, third-ranked Lady Colts defeated Lexington 51-39 in the lower division of the Northwest Alabama Christmas Tournament at Lauderdale County High School to take the championship title.

Daneshia Malone scored a team-high 26 points in the win. Chelsea Haggermaker finished the night with 14 points; 12 came in the first half off four 3-pointers.

Clements travels to Elkmont Monday.

Boys

West 60, Mad. Acad. 50

The Wildcats got double figures from two players as they concluded play in the Albertville Christmas Tournament.

Austin Adams led the team with 20 points. Preston Herring followed with a double-double — 18 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Romine scored eight points.

West 71, Ashville 67

Herring recorded his second double-double in two days with a 30-point, 10-rebound performance. Justin White tossed in 26 points. Brady Clay had nine.

West Limestone hosts Pope John Paul II High School, formerly Catholic High School of Huntsville, Tuesday.
