“Basically, we are working to get our glass recycling up to speed,” Smith said. “We have three restaurants that are recycling, and we have two more on hold until Dec. 1 awaiting corporate approval.”

Smith said there is no special recycling event in the works, but day-to-day business continues briskly.

“We are taking electronics every day,” he said. “We are a real transitioning business. We are taking in cardboard by the ton and taking in our curbside as well as newspapers. We welcome anyone to come over and take the tour. I believe you would be amazed at the amount of stuff that is coming through this building.”

In a typical month, the plant recycles 115 tons of cardboard and 20 tons of newspaper, Smith said.
