Circuit Court Clerk Charles Page Jr. said late last week that his sister had been released from Huntsville Hospital and is staying temporarily in a handicap-accessible basement apartment at his home in Tanner while she continues to recover.
The Pages’ vehicle was struck from behind a month ago in the southbound lanes of U.S. 31 in front of RJW Manufacturing. According to Athens Police Capt. Floyd Johnson, the Page vehicle was struck by another pickup truck and veered off into the ditch, striking a concrete culvert head on.
The senior Page, a well-known Tanner resident and volunteer for several local agencies, was pronounced dead soon after the 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 wreck at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Caroline Page was seriously injured and transferred to Huntsville Hospital by MedFlight after being treated in Athens.
She had surgery for a broken hip and was to have conferred with her surgeon on Monday and a trauma doctor today, Page said.
“Caroline is doing real well,” said Page. “She is in a wheelchair but able to stand with the aid of a walker. She can take a few steps.”

Athens Police continue to investigate the accident ; no one has been charged.
“We’ve called in specially trained people we bring in to look at these accidents,” Johnson said at the time. “It’s a complicated process they go through.”
