DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — Houston County officials say a man convicted of manslaughter who failed to turn himself in has been arrested in Virginia.

District Attorney Doug Valeska said Monday that 24-year-old Solomon Knight was arrested in Amherst County, Va., last week on a public intoxication charge and gave authorities a false name.

Knight was convicted in Houston County in 2008 in the shooting death of 21-year-old Roderick Williams.

Valeska says Knight was sentenced to 17 years in prison, but the court allowed him to remain free on bond until his appeals were exhausted.

Valeska says his office will likely seek a felony bail jumping charge against Knight.
