BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — First Financial Bank of Bessemer has been ordered to hand over financial records about pastor J. Scott Moore, who is suspected by HealthSouth Corp. of hiding money for Richard Scrushy, the company’s former CEO.

The Jefferson County Circuit Court late last week authorized subpoenas ordering the bank to hand over all documents about Moore, his wife and his ministries.

Moore was a confidant of Scrushy, whose charitable foundation donated $1 million to the pastor’s ministries.

HealthSouth has said some of the transactions between Moore and Scrushy violate laws that prohibit people facing civil monetary judgments from shielding assets by shuttling them to friends and family.

Scrushy owes HealthSouth $2.8 billion after being found liable last year at a civil trial for accounting fraud at the company.
