The funeral for Lorena McLemore Smith, 79, of Huntsville, will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at McConnell Funeral Home with Dr. Edwin Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born April 8, 1931, in Limestone County to Oscar McLemore and Flossie Schrimsher McLemore. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, a small-business owner in Ardmore, Ala., and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert L. “Bob” Smith; infant daughter, Emily; son, Tony Smith; and brother, Luther McLemore.

She is survived by one son, Keith Smith and wife Michelle of Huntsville; daughter, Fran Gossett and husband Frank of Harvest; grandchildren, Dominic Smith, Gabriella Smith, Ellis Gossett and Emily Gossett; sisters, Marvelene Williams of Athens and Eunice King of Birmingham and formerly of Athens.

The family would like to thank Clare Bridge of Hampton Cove for the tender love and care they have shown during our mother’s time with them.

Nephews will be pallbearers.
