Rescue Squad yard sale
Athens-Limestone Rescue Squad will have its annual yard sale today and Saturday, beginning at 7 a.m. each day at its facility on Freeman Drive. This is the largest one ever.
SATURDAY
Cars on Square
Cars on the Square will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There is no admission fee, but $25 to enter a car. For more information, call Bland Allen at (256) 603-1227.
Dog Gone Festival
The Dog Gone Festival is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ardmore, Ala., Town Park across from the Ardmore Boys & Girls Club, just off Main Street behind Rab Shelton Furniture. Call (256) 423-7588 or 508-7314.
Athens Historical Walks
All walkers are invited to take part in one of five walks. Meet at the Athens Visitors Center at Market and Beaty streets at 9:45 a.m. and select a walk to depart promptly at 10 a.m. for about an hour. Call (256) 232-5411 or 508-7314.
Bracy Hamilton fundraiser
There will be a fundraiser for Bracy Hamilton, who is currently on the heart transplant waiting list, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at Advance Auto Parts on U.S. 72. Food includes grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, drinks and sweets. All funds collected go toward his medical expenses.
Ardmore Lawn, Garden Tour
Ardmore Lawn & Garden Tour is 1-4 p.m., Saturday. Advance tickets for $8 are available at the library, 1st National Bank, Ardmore, or from friends of the library. Day of the tour tickets will be available at the library until 2 p.m. or at each site for $10. Sponsored by Friends of Ardmore Public Library. Cat show
The North Alabama Feline Fanciers cat show is Saturday and Sunday at Yesterdays Event Center in Athens. Cats featured and judged from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 5, and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, June 6. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for seniors and children over age 5; and free for children under 5. Book signing
Author Kelly Kazek, managing editor of The News Courier, will sign copies of her new book, “A History of Alabama’s Deadliest Tornadoes: Disaster in Dixie,” from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Pablo’s on Market in downtown Athens. The book includes stories from Limestone County.
Turner reunion

Jackson Cemetery decoration

The Bethel, Tenn., Masonic Lodge will serve a buffet breakfast from 7-9 a.m. Saturday. Proceeds to charity. Non-perishable food items for food bank welcome.
Woodmen anniversary

Ballroom dance lessons
Learn how to waltz and West Coast swing in dance lessons beginning Monday night in the Athens State University Sandridge Center ballroom. The same dance content is also taught on Tuesday nights. Athens Boys & Girls Club, 1017 W. Washington St., will serve free lunches to all children 18 and under Monday through Friday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., through July 30. Tanner Boys & Girls Club, 13529 Lucas Ferry Road, will serve meals Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through July 30.
