JASPER, Ala. (AP) — Two men have been charged with murder and robbery in connection with a body that was found Friday afternoon near Cordova.
Walker County Sheriff John Mark Tirey said the body has been tentatively identified as Richard Douglas Harris, a 63-year-old Jasper man who was reported missing by his family on Feb. 12.
Tirey says 32-year-old James David Hollie of Jasper and 39-year-old Brian Michael Smelley of Cordova are being held in the Walker County jail on charges of murder and robbery.
Tirey says Harris was last seen at a flea market in Boldo on Feb. 11.
The sheriff says Harris was shot at the flea market. His vehicle was found on Feb. 14.
