Joseph David Chambers and Mary Elizabeth McMeans

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gene McMeans Jr. of Athens announce the engagement of their daughter Mary Elizabeth McMeans of Hoover to Joseph David Chambers of McCalla, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry William Chambers of Hoover.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bates Huffman, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gene McMeans Sr., all of Athens.

She is a graduate of Clements High School and a graduate of The University of North Alabama where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield as a marketing representative.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Charles Chambers, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Edward McMurray Sr.

He is a graduate of Hoover High School and a graduate of UNA where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education. He received a master’s degree in secondary education from The University of West Alabama and is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is employed in the Walker County school system as a teacher and varsity basketball coach at Oakman High School.

The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. Dec. 19, 2009, at Holmes Street United Methodist Church in Huntsville. A reception at the Huntsville Historic Roundhouse Depot will follow.
