Emily Dawn Cole of Athens and Justin William Brodie of Athens were married in a 7 p.m. ceremony July 3, 2009, at Founders Hall at Athens State University with Dan Binkley and Brandon Pressnell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Tommy and Jan Cole of Athens. Her grandparents are Rachel Hagood of Athens, the late Billy Hagood, and the late Thomas and Rosemary Cole.
The groom is the son of Jim and Teresa Brodie of Athens. His grandparents are Wayne and Nancy Loggins of Athens, Barbara Brodie of Pinson, and the late Clarence and Betty Brodie.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Maid of honor was Emily Banta. Bridal attendants were Laura Clark, sister-in-law of the bride Holly Cole, cousin of the bride Atina English, Jennifer Hall, Jessica Rogers, Erin Smith, and Allison Turner. The flower girls were cousins of the bride, Blakely English and Brooke Blakely.
Jim Brodie served as best man. Groomsmen were brother of the groom Chris Brodie, brother of the bride Dr. Adam Cole, Andrew Hall, Dustin Hall, Andrew Lawson, Nathan Lindsay, and Brooks Moore. The ringbearer was cousin of groom Trey Hardin.
Music was provided by harpist Steve Miller. The guest register was kept by April and Mackenzie Davis.
A reception followed the ceremony at Founders Hall. Servers were Anita Blakely, Sarah Blakely, Taryn Brodie, Susan Granger, Jenny Jarrett, and Tiffany Hardin. Wedding directors were Terry Banta and Louise Melvin.
After a wedding trip on a Caribbean cruise the couple returned home to Athens.
