Carrie Ann Chittam of Athens and Lance Ryan Thornton of Athens were married in a 2 p.m. ceremony June 13, 2009, at The Popular Place with Michael Boggs officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Neil and Peggy Chittam of Athens. Her grandparents are Jean Chittam of Athens, Charles and Esthalene Wilson of Cottage Grove, Tenn., and the late Herbert Chittam.

The groom is the son of Mike and Connie Thornton of Athens. His grandparents are Eugene and Macle Thornton, and J.L. and Inez Adams.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Matron of honor was Christy Boggs. Bridal attendants were Katie Lockwood, Jillian Herman, Ashley Jackson, Becca Hughes, Casie Chittam, Dana Sims, and Shelley Sharp. The flower girls were Abby Boggs, Casey Lee Shackleford, and Blaire Hall.

Mike Thornton served as best man. Groomsmen were Jason Gatlin, Josh Hall, Jamey Thomas, Jordan Steele, T.J. Roberts, Coty Green and Seth Vickers. The ringbearers were Andrew Boggs, Will Murley, and Tyler Shackleford.

The guest register was kept by Morgan Bates.

A reception followed the ceremony at The Popular Place. Servers were Lauren Hall, Caitlin Thornton and Taylor Thomas.

After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple returned home to Athens.
