Lisa Renee Smith, 39, of Ardmore, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at her residence.

She was born Tuesday, April 14, 1970, in Lewisburg, Tenn. She was the daughter of James Choate and Candy Salisbury Pitts.

She was a licensed practical nurse at Valley View Home Health Care and a member of New Oakland Independent Baptist Church. She was a member of the Athens High School All-Star Marching Band and performed at the Fiesta Bowl in 1988. She wrote music and poems. She was a 1988 graduate of Athens High School. She had a great personality and loved animals. She was in Sub Deb Sorority and Beta Club. She studied electrical and mechanical engineering and earned a nursing degree from Calhoun Community College.

She is survived by a daughter, Breanna Renee Smith of Ardmore; her ex-husband, Brent Smith of Ardmore; great-grandparents, Julian and Ella Salisbury, Bertha and Sam Jones and the Marion Doris family; her step-father, Gary Pitts; step-brother, Lance Pitts and wife Mary; step-grandmother, Marie Pitts; step-aunt, Christy Pitts; and step-nephew, Seth Widner, all of Athens. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Eugene Salisbury, Beatrice Collins and Margaret and Garnett Choate.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Oakland Independent Baptist Church in Athens with Bro. Dwight Rayburn, Bro. Frankie Murphy, Bro. Anthony Anderson, Bro. Johnny Beddingfield and brother Jamie Mitchell officiating.
