Four women accused of offering sexual favors to undercover officers in exchange for pay have been arrested and charged with promoting prostitution, an official said.
Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely warned the four women a couple of weeks ago about reports of prostitution at their places of businesses off U.S. 72. Blakely said he paid three of the women a visit at Pleasers off U.S. 72 East, located between the flea market and a car lot, and asked owner Chida Rosita Thomas of 311 Forest Park Court in Huntsville, if she had a massage license.
“She told me they were only giving ‘body rubs,’” said Blakely. “I told her if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck. She said they weren’t ducks, they were swans. I told her if they didn’t stop, they were gonna be jailbirds.”
Blakely sent undercover officers to the business Tuesday night and three women agreed to do sexual favors for money, he said. Officers charged the following with third-degree promotion of prostitution: Thomas; Crystal Dawn Crews, 27, of 17357 Harwell Road in Athens; and Tiffany Dethovan Hill, 31, of 4420 Bonell, Apt. D, in Huntsville.
Blakely also sent an officer to Eastern Western Spa off U.S. 72, which led to the arrest of the owner, Janet Lee, 65, of 114 Amsterdam Place in Madison on a charge of third-degree promoting prostitution.
Each of the women was released from the Limestone County Jail after posting $1,000 bail, records show.
