22 Career Tech students cited for accomplishments

Two students from the Limstone County Career Technical Center recently won scholarships and 20 others won awards in state competitions relating to their fields.
This year’s scholarship winners were Ethan Mitchell of West Limestone High School and Ethan Shutt of Clements High School.
Jan Tribble, director of secondary curriculum for Limestone County Schools, recently introduced the students to school board members and gave them a certificate to commemorate their achievement.
Skills
In the area of skills, the following students placed in the Alabama SkillsUSA competition, which will allow them to proceed to the national competition in Kansas City, Mo.
First place: Will Baucom in small engines; C.W. Knight in heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration; Chris Knopp in carpentry; Shelby Rudolph in cosmetology; Chris Kennedy in computer technology; Jake Garris in computer maintenance: Christian Fernald in drafting
Second place: Brad Mitchell in power equipment
Third place: Tabitha McGraw in cosmetology-men’s hair and Marrissa Burkhead in cosmetology-esthetics
Health science
In the area of heath science, the following students placed in the state Health Occupations Students of America contest and will compete in the national competition this summer in Nashville:
First place: Lauren Campbell, McKenzie Faulk and Ava Young in biomedical debate, and Kelly Blankenship in first-aid and rescue breathing
Second place: Heather Vinson, Kayla Rogers and Laura Lindsay in medical reading
Culinary arts
In the area of culinary arts, the following members of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America won the state gold medal and will represent Alabama at the national competition in Nashville in July: Shalonda Coleman, Jocelyn Nash, Maricruz Romero and Andrea Lightfoot.
Business management
In the area of business management, two members of Future Business Leaders of America qualified for the national competition in Anaheim, Calif.: Kimberly Priest and
Ryan Deetman.
