The funeral for Robert J. “Terrapin” Davis, 68, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home with David Jones officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Davis died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Huntsville Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Davis of Athens; daughters, Phyllis Grela and Lisa Holland, both of Athens; son, Michael Mitchell of Athens; grandchildren, Brett Hogan, Brooklyn Watson, Bree Grela and Bridgitt Grela, all of Athens; great-grandchildren, Britain Resch, Abbi Watson and Hayden Hogan, all of Athens; several cousins.
Robert J. “Terrapin” Davis was born Aug. 5, 1940 in Limestone County to Dave Estes Davis and Mollie Hardaway Davis. Mr. Davis was a member of Cairo Methodist Church. He was a retired jailer for the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Brett Hogan, Ben Grela, Doug Watson, Marty Bruce, Jimmy White and Haskell Mealer.
Honorary pallbearers are the West Limestone Class of 1958 and members of the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cairo Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
