Commission deeds over health building to schools

The commission met Tuesday and approved the following agenda items:

• Deeding over the old health department building on Elm Street to the county school board for an alternative school. The Board of Education will pay $150,000 at the time of renovation or new construction.

• Annual medical reimbursement for employees

• Lease agreement with the Sheriff’s Department for a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado

• Family medical leaves for Anna Owens and Jason Shawley

• Employment of Christopher West and David Malone as assistant coroners

• Final approval for Brunswick subdivision, Phase I, a major subdivision with 56 lots in District 2 on the south side of Nick Davis Road and east of Menefee Road

• Removal of outdated information technology equipment from inventory

• Appointment of Rita White as the contact for National Incident Management Service

• Authorization for County Administrator Pam Bell to transfer $3 million from the General Fund into certificate of deposits at First National Bank

• Adoption of federal standards for conduct of public officials in the award or administration of federal funds and in procurement methods

• Heard a report from District 4 Commissioner Bill Daws that BP America continues cleanup activities from a xylene pipeline spill in the Owens Community. He said the company would remove all contaminated soil and move it out of state.
