The Athens Middle School Future Business Leaders of America and the Junior Beta Club recently donated 50 fleece jackets to the Limestone County Department of Human Resources for distribution to those in need during the chilly winter months. The AMS students won the jackets, made from recycled plastic drink bottles, by placing among the top 100 schools last spring in the Return the Warmth plastics recycling contest sponsored nationally by Keep America Beautiful, Aquafina and Sam’s Club and locally by Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful and the Athens-Limestone Recycling Center. DHR representatives Katie McAllister, left, and Derrick Blackwell, right, accept the donated jackets from AMS FBLA sponsor Amanda Gibbs and FBLA president Allie Dye.
