Rookie cops fired in Dothan

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — Two rookie police officers in Dothan have been terminated.

Dothan Police Chief John Powell said Christopher Campbell and Alicia Smith were fired Tuesday after a hearing was held regarding their expulsion on Oct. 2 from the Criminal Justice Training Center in Selma.

Powell said Campbell and Smith were hired in July, but could not be certified as police officers.

Martha Earnhardt, a spokeswoman for the training center, said the two were expelled for violating class rules. She declined to elaborate.
