IRVINGTON, N.J. (AP) — Officials in New Jersey say three bodies were found after a house fire in Irvington and at least one of the three had been shot.
Essex County prosecutor Paula Dow says it appears the fire was set to conceal a homicide.
Newark Fire Department Director Dave Giordano told The Star-Ledger of Newark that authorities found one body had a gunshot in the head. The cause of death of the other two victims was not immediately clear.
The fire was reported at 7:45 a.m. in a three-story wood frame house in the Newark suburb. The fire was extinguished within an hour.
Authorities say a fourth person was hospitalized.
