APD makes 5 DUI arrests so far during holiday weekend

Five people have been arrested for driving under the influence in Limestone County so far this Labor Day holiday weekend.

Athens police arrested and charged five people with DUI Friday, records show. The names of those charged are listed in today’s Newsbeat on page A4. Athens police set up the first of a series of roadblocks Friday evening designed to stop impaired drivers during the holiday weekend, which ends Tuesday morning.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Department reported no DUI arrests Friday through Saturday afternoon, a jailer said.

Alabama state troopers reported no DUI arrests in Limestone County from Friday through early Saturday afternoon, a trooper said.
