The Northern Region of the Alabama Holocaust Commission and the Huntsville Multicultural Center are sponsoring a workshop for educators on how to teach about the holocaust.
Educators may register for the workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12. The workshop is at the Huntsville Multicultural Center.
The daylong event brings together educators to explore strategies for effectively teaching students about the holocaust and national education standards. It offers opportunities to exchange ideas, explore challenges, and learn about the free teaching materials provided. Advanced Teacher Fellows of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and Lerner Teacher Fellows of the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous will lead the workshop.
Registration is $25, but $15 will be returned to participants at the end of the workshop. Lunch and refreshments are included. Enrollment is limited to 30 people.
