Teen slain, police think robbery was motive

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A Montgomery teenager is dead and police say he was an apparent victim of foul play.

According to Montgomery Police, officers responded at about 3 a.m. Friday to a shooting on the city’s west side where they found a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Police Lt. Keith Barnett said the teen was pronounced dead at Baptist Hospital South. His name was withheld.

Barnett said the teenager and an acquaintance had been confronted by an armed male suspect, approximately 18 years-old. No arrests were made.

Police said the motive appeared to have been a robbery.

The homicide was Montgomery’s 14th of the year.
