Beta Club members cover graffiti

Bridge supports along the Sportsplex trail were repainted by 15 Athens High School Beta Club student volunteers and a student from Athens Intermediate School on May 10. Athens Parks and Recreation Department provided the paint, rollers, brushes, etc., and Lowes sold additional painting supplies at cost. The kids applied a total of three gallons of primer and eight gallons of concrete paint to the bridge to cover the graffiti. The students were invited to the May 12 Athens City Council meeting, where they were presented with a certificate of appreciation by Mayor Dan Williams. The project was coordinated by Beautification Board member Diane Risdon.
