- Veterans share photos of Honor Fight trip
The mournful strains of a bagpipe add to the solemn setting of the World War II Memorial in Washington. Saturday, seven local veterans, Former Limestone Sheriff Clyde Ennis, George Fetter, Walter Jennette, Paul Sandlin, brothers Paul Turner and Vonzo Turner, and Cliff Wilford toured the monument as well as several other memorials and monuments on the Washington Mall when they were part of Honor Flight No. 4. Ennis’s granddaughter, Romayne Soler, and two grandsons, Garrett Ennis and Nathan Ennis, flew into the Baltimore for the day and drove down to Washington to meet their grandfather at the WWII Memorial. Soler shot these photos of her grandfather at right, on the right, with another Honor Flight passenger. Ennis, below, stands at Alabama’s portion of the monument. The fifth and sixth Honor Flights are tentatively scheduled for Sept. 13 and Oct. 18.
