ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) — Figures from Alabama Power Co. show lakes are recovering from last year’s drought and are at or near full pool for Memorial Day weekend boaters.
The company manages Lake Logan Martin, Lake Wedowee, Lake Neely Henry and Weiss Lake.
Officials say reservoirs are where they should be.
Power company spokeswoman Gina Warren says spring rains and careful management have put the lakes at full summer pool. That’s a big change from last summer when some lakes were more than 10 feet below normal. She says the lakes are in much better shape than officials expected them to be at this time of year.
Alabama Power held more water in the reservoirs earlier this spring trying to reach full pool by the end of April in case the summer turns dry again.
