Local business leads drive to fill foster care wish list

The Limestone County Department of Human Resources will be in front of the former Giovanni’s restaurant next to Pimentos on the downtown square from 6 to 9 tonight to accept items donated for local foster children.
Receipts will be given for donated items and cash donations.
Jennifer White with DHR said although the agency’s funding was not cut this year, DHR no longer has access to the supplemental funds it was using to purchase clothes and other items for children in foster care.
White said Shannon Bryant of the gift shop Pimentos offered to give 20 percent discounts tonight through April 10 to customers who donate an item on the wish list.
Items needed for ages infant to 18 include:
• Wal-Mart gift cards to buy clothes and other necessities
• Goody’s gift cards to replace children’s clothing
• Large cosmetic bags
• Shaving kits for teen boys
• Backpacks
• Tote bags
