The funeral for David Edward Burt, 76, of Athens will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with David Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Burt died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

He was born Feb. 24, 1931, to Marion Thomas Burt and Roxie Ann Lacreasa Rowe in Tallassee. He was a retired service man for Athens Utilities, an Army veteran, and a member of Emanuel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Melba Irene Burt of Athens; one son, David Randall Burt and wife Heather of Cullman; two daughters, Diane Gilliam and husband Steve of Athens and Brenda Kay Bayne of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Craig Gilliam, Jason Gilliam, Nicholas Burt, John Rittenberry, Jarron Meredith and Justin Cole.
